A Few Simple Words for Change and Laughter

Fun at work? Humor at your desk? Improv in the board room? If marketing helps in telling your story and we are supposed to be functioning in teams to accomplish great things at work, why is work so serious? Finding our voice at work, and the humor in it, is so challenging for young leaders. Liysa Callsen will turn that serious journey through a silent world into stories, improv, audience participation and tips that will give you a fresh perspective on your obstacles, teach you to use humor in life and in business, help you embrace diversity to form stronger teams and enjoy the art of communicating beyond words.

Participants will learn the principles of improvisation which will have a positive effect to advance your leadership skills. This excellent business tool includes the following:

  • Yes and
  • Gifts to grow communication
  • How to avoid rejecting others; “hearing” all ideas
  • Learn how to accept suggestions and not view them as criticism
  • Do’s and Don’ts to getting started
  • Practical, inexpensive and easy ideas to add productivity with humor

This workshop is for young professionals who want to:

  • Get more done while having more fun
  • Create great team bonding
  • Improve morale and productivity
  • Develop their natural leadership abilities
  • Truly lead within their teams, divisions, departments, and organizations

Instructor:

Liysa Callsen has lived her entire life in the deaf community. With two deaf parents and a deaf husband, she learned to communicate differently… really differently! Now, she’s finding the humor (and voice) in her challenges and learning to be heard above the noise.

Liysa trained with Second City Chicago and has turned her passion for business and humor into workshops, speaking engagements and writings. She is a member of AATH (say it aloud; it’s fun!) – Association for Applied Therapeutic Humor – where she continues to learn more about humor’s serious (?) side (such as why it is so important in business!). In her free time, Liysa is producer of Lakeshore’s Top Comic and most recently Deer in the Headlights – Women’s Comedy Showcase, launched last November, which was awarded a marketing grant from the State of Wisconsin.
