The View from the Other Side

The events of 2020 have illuminated long standing racial inequities that create barriers for many in our communities. This session will help us examine and reframe our view so that we may overcome these barriers individually and collectively.

Robyn Y. Davis is the president and CEO of Brown County United Way, Green Bay, Wisconsin, a community impact organization that unites people, ideas and resources to create community solutions that strengthen every person and every community. Robyn began serving in that role in May 2017. Prior to joining Brown County United Way, she led Freedom House Ministries, Inc. in Green Bay as its President for 8 years. Robyn is a member of the Green Bay Packers Board of Directors, the Donald J. Schneider School of Business and Economics Board of Advisors, the Weidner Center Presents Board of Directors, and the Northeast Wisconsin Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service sorority. In 2019, Robyn received the Athena Leadership Award from the Greater Green Bay Chamber and the St. Norbert College Ambassador of Peace Award from the Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice and Public Understanding. In 2018, Robyn was named one of Wisconsin’s 42 most influential African Americans by Madison 365. Robyn has served as a facilitator since 2018 with the Center for Exceptional Leadership of St. Norbert College. She has been a faithful attendee of Living Hope Church in Green Bay since 2005. In addition to her “day job," in 2020, Robyn launched The Valiant Leader as its Founder and President to share her passion and experience with leaders as they face today’s challenges and opportunities.

Four Secrets to Sustainable Success

Chris Kann will discuss how outworking everyone else doesn't not necessarily guarantee sustainable success. She offers a transformational model, exchanging the traditional Type A ABC characteristics — ambitiousness, busyness and competitiveness — with Namaste ABC traits — allowing, being thoughtful and contentment. This change in thinking lead her to her four secrets.

Chris Kann has over 30 years of business experience, including time in corporate marketing positions and as an entrepreneur. She has always felt called to the world of business, loving every minute of her time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while receiving her Bachelors and Masters degrees in business. After spending over a decade in public and private companies, Chris started her first business, and connected with her true calling as an entrepreneur. As a Registered Corporate Coach™, Chris brings her knowledge of the ups and downs of corporate environments, career transitions and work/life challenges to her sessions with clients. She believes that the best way to be an exceptional leader, business owner or manager is to know yourself.
