Course Description
Substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions (also known as co-occurring disorders) are very common and can significantly impact the effectiveness of crisis intervention. In addition to learning commonly used screening tools and how they apply to ASAM levels and the stages of change, you'll engage in practice unconditional hope and care coordination. You are required to apply your learning through interactive games, case scenarios and quizzes to develop your knowledge, skills and abilities as it relates to substance use.
Learning Objectives:
- Broadly define substances, substance use, withdrawal, and the ASAM levels of care.
- Explain unconditional positive regard and distinguish what unconditional positive regard is not.
- Demonstrate knowledge on the stages of change.
- Demonstrate on understanding of medication assisted treatment.
