We have worked with scholars throughout campus, the state and beyond to offer resources about First Nations history, culture, sovereignty, law, worldview, philosophy and classroom curricular materials.
- Wisconsin First Nations: American Indian Studies in Wisconsin: a collection of lesson plans for all grades, educational videos, teacher professional development resources, and learning tools for the classroom or library.
- Department of Public Instruction American Indian Studies: this program helps teachers implement the curricular requirements in the areas of American Indian history, culture and tribal sovereignty.
- Four Directions Teaching: audio narration and interactive learning about Indigenous knowledge from five tribes across Canada.
- The Ways: a collection of language and culture stories from Native communities around the central Great Lakes. This resource also helps teachers meet the requirements of Act 31.
- Menominee Medicine Wheel Teaching with Napos: learn from Napos, an elder from the Menominee nation, about First Nations worldview and teachings on the concept of "4" as well as the Seven Gifts as a way of living in the world.
Oneida Language Resources
- Oneida Language Dictionary: learn the Oneida language for free with this interactive on-line Language dictionary created by Dr. Cliff Abbott from UW-Green Bay, along with Oneida tribal elders.
- The Wisconsin Oneida Language Preservation Project: texts and audio of original stories and curriculum from the Oneida Nation.
- Oneida Language Games: learn Oneida language through online games.
Library
Collection
A Collection of over 1,500 materials is available on the 3rd floor of the Cofrin Library centering on First Nations history, research, law, and literature. Materials have been curated by the First Nation Education faculty that features materials by and about First Nations peoples and global Indigenous communities.
