Bio:

Dr. Jacobson received his PhD in Geosciences from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. His research interests include geomorphology, glaciology, and soil and rock mechanics. He has conducted laboratory investigations on crystal orientations in thin sections to understand the physical deformation of ice in glaciers. Furthermore, he has studied drumlins, a glacial landform from beneath retreating ice margins, at Fláajökull, an outlet glacier in Iceland.

With colleagues from the University of Iceland, Dr. Jacobson has co-authored a paper on landform genesis in the Annals of Glaciology. Most of his fieldwork has been conducted in Iceland, Nevada, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked in the metals and mining industry as an exploration geologist.

Outside of his main research areas, Dr. Jacobson was an academic director with the School for International Training (SIT) Study Abroad for the summer program 2022: Renewable Energy, Technology, and Resource Economics in Iceland. Currently, he is an assistant teaching professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus.
