Job Description
UW-Green Bay’s Digital Communication Specialist is seeking a student Social Media Assistant for fall 2023 semester to support the University’s social media presence and initiatives, assisting in brainstorming, production, management and analysis of UWGB’s social media.
The Digital Communication Specialist maintains the flagship social media accounts for UWGB, serves as a social media advisor to campus departments and assist in University marketing and communication initiatives.
The Social Media Assistant will create content for large audiences and will learn social media management software, social media best practices and how social media fits into a higher education institution’s marketing and communication strategy.

Hours per week: 7-10 hr./week
Hourly Wage: Compensation in the fall semester comprises a salary of $12.25 per hour and you may also receive three credits for internship work.
Assistant will perform the following tasks:
- Researching trends and best practices of social media in higher education
- Engaging with social media users and content
- Curating content from social media users
- Creating social media content, including Tik Toks and Reels
- Planning and posting social media posts
- Analyzing social media analytics
- Assiting with management of the Social Media Ambassador Program
- Participating in brainstorm sessions
- Training others across the University on social media best practices
- Supporting the needs of the Office of Marketing & University Communication
Required Qualifications:
- Sophomore-senior status when beginning role
- Experience with many social media platforms from personal experience (TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, etc.), especially content creation
- Knowledge of social media trends and strategy
- Time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to appear in social media content
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively
- Energetic with a desire to contribute creative, fresh ideas to grow UW-Green Bay’s online presence
- Passionate about UW-Green Bay
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with running social media for an organization or business
- Major or minor in Communication, Art, Design, Marketing, Theatre, Arts Management, Writing & Applied Arts, and/or Business Admin
Bonus points for:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel and Word
- Photography/Videography Skills
- Knowledge of photo editing/video editing software (i.e. Lightroom, iMovie, etc.)
- Experience editing videos, especially in TikTok
- Graphic Design skills
