Marketing and University Communication Office
The Marketing and University Communication Office provides editorial, design, print management, and photography services. The office is responsible for quality and consistency in major University publications and the institution’s visual representation.
As a campuswide service bureau, the M/UC design shop generally concerns itself with brochures that are of a significant programmatic or long-term nature — recruitment brochures and major all-campus programs or activities — especially those requiring off-campus printing. The office does not generally handle routine flyers requiring relatively few copies and incidental budgets, meant to promote a one-time event to a fairly modest on-campus audience of students, faculty or staff.
Publications produced off campus and funded by general revenue fall under state purchasing auspices. They must, by state law and UW System policy, be handled through established channels. The UW-Green Bay agency printing manager, a staff member in the Marketing and University Communication Office, consults on printing options, provides cost and time estimates and serves as the institutional liaison with external printing vendors.
Use of Outside Design Firms
While use of in-house design staff is not required, it has been working policy of the UW-Green Bay Purchasing Office to expect that the M/UC Office be approached before a decision is reached to hire a for-profit, off-campus provider. The M/UC staff will agree to schedule the job, or can recommend other, approved designers (both on campus and off) who do cost-effective work while adhering to University quality and style expectations.
Web Services Office
Staff members in the University’s Web Services Office offer assistance in designing, developing and maintaining pages that are consistent with this manual’s guidelines, and with campuswide web-development standards. The office assists with top-level pages of the University’s site, academic program sites, and various special projects. In addition, Web Services staff members offer web training and support for faculty, staff and students.
