Nothing builds a brand like powerful stories. The Office of Marketing and University Communication needs YOU – brand champions to share your great news recognizing the excellent work of our faculty, staff and students.

Our brand core is established by our culture and was simply verbalized and formalized by perception research. Our attributes:

  • Excellence in teaching
  • Connections with internationally recognized faculty
  • Solving problems from multiple perspectives
  • Engagement in applied learning experiences
  • Welcoming, friendly campus community

What are we looking for?

We are looking for all stories, and especially those that are visually engaging, such as

  • Photos or video of hands-on interaction and engagement
  • Emotional content
  • Breakthroughs, successes, research findings
  • Unique background or settings 
  • Physical equipment (tools, materials, instruments, etc.)
  • Success stories
  • Unique delivery methods

What is not visually engaging?

  • Talking-head videos
  • Portraits or headshots (can be used secondarily to recognize those highlighted)

What do we do with the story ideas?

Generally, every story has a place, although some may not be feature appropriate, it may be appropriate for a LOG item, a media tip, or social media sharing, or other venues. M/UC staff would take each idea and decide the important place for dissemination. If need be, we would assign an editor, a photographer or a videographer for additional coverage. The elements would then be used in as many channels as are appropriate, including the University magazine — Inside, posters, portraits, etc…
