Summer Camps
Rise above a
boring summer
July 8-12, 2024
Looking for something fun to do this summer? Students can join us on the UW-Green Bay campus for five days/four nights of camp fun! Campers will spend the week learning a new skill, living on-campus like a college student, dining in our university dining hall and meeting other GEAR UP students from all over Wisconsin. Need another incentive? This experience is FREE to all GEAR UP students! Check back in spring for 2025 offerings.
LIVE ON CAMPUS
Live like a UW-Green Bay student! Campers will stay in a residence hall to experience on-campus college life.
Dine like a student
Refuel in our on-campus Cloud Commons dining hall. No need to pay — GEAR UP has you covered!
Learn NEW Things
Camp is about having fun and learning new skills. Thanks to our partners, students will leave with a new skill to show off to their classmates!
Summer 2024 Camp Offerings
UW-Green Bay GEAR UP is excited to offer three brand new camps for summer 2024! Check out the offerings below and be sure to pay close attention to eligible grade levels. Grade levels are based on student's grade as of the 2023-2024 school year.
Design Tech: Board Game Mastermind
Grades 7-10
Want to redesign a favorite board game? Have an exciting idea for a brand new game that hasn't been created yet? Design Tech: Board Game Mastermind will help students bring their ideas to life! Students will start the week learning the basics of Tinkercad, 3D printing, and laser cutting, and they will end the week by utilizing those new found skills to create a board game or redesign a favorite!
Cardboard Construction
Grades 6-9
Join us for an interactive cardboard camp where campers will make their dream homes into a cardboard reality, from blueprint to final construction. Then, working as a group, students will engineer and build a city—grocery stores, hospitals, a post office, restaurants, schools, etc. Students are only limited by their imagination.
Graffiti & Darkroom Photography
Grades 10-11
Calling all future artists! Join the UW-Green Bay Art Department for a week of artistic expression! Campers will spend the morning learning the art of graffiti painting with alumnus and owner of Trackside Designs, Beau Thomas. In the afternoon, Art Professor, Sarah Detweiler, will guide students through the scientific process of darkroom photography where they will create paintings with light to produce unique works of experimental photography.
