Bunking/Lofting Options
Bed Configuration Requests: The most popular option for students with shared bedrooms is a
bunked bed configuration, the standard room set-up. If you and your roommate wish to have your
beds lofted or debunked prior to your arrival, you may make this request in advance on-line.
Alterations to bed configurations must be done
by Residence Life maintenance personnel.

Lofting/Debunking Request Form
Every effort will be made to honor requests submitted before mid-August.
If you and your roommate prefer to have a bunked bed configuration,
no action is needed. If you have medical conditions which make it
inadvisable to sleep on a top bunk or loft, please discuss with your
roommate the bed configuration that would serve you best. Each roommate
must submit a Loft/Debunking request form. There is no charge for
the first bed configuration requests. A $50.00 charge per
student will
apply for subsequent requests.
Students who currently live on campus need not be
present when staff alter the bed configuration, however all personal
belongings must be removed from the desk, dresser, beds, and
the immediate area near the beds. If rooms are not prepared
accordingly, the request may not be completed.
Traditional Apartments
Buildings 3312-3334
Beds will be in a bunked formation unless otherwise requested. It is not necessary to submit a
bunk/lofting request if you and your roommate prefer to have your beds bunked.
Options available:
- Bunked beds - standard room set-up
Most students prefer having the beds in their room bunked to allow for more floor space and versatility in
terms of arranging your room. This
configuration provides the most efficient use of floor space.
- Debunked - both beds on floor
This option allows for students who prefer not to have elevated beds.
- Lofted beds
-
Allows for maximum use of floor space with the desk with beds raised within
21 inches of the ceiling.
The dresser and desk serve as support for the bed. One or both roommates may choose to have their beds
lofted. All lofting must be done
by maintenance personnel. Disadvantages include
minimum distance between bed and ceiling.
You may also move the furniture around in your room, but not into the closet or in front of the windows
in a manner that would block access through the window in the event of a fire. Closet doors may not be
removed.
