Another 2.5 inches of snow fell in Green Bay. Through
11/19 Green Bay received a total of 6.2 inches of snow in November
(a trace in October). Last year we had 0.0 inches for the entire month
of November and we didn't get measurable snowfall until Dec 14. |

ice cover for UWGB's prairie pond. The freeze dates for recent
years are: 11/10 (1996), 11/12 (1997), 11/14 (1999). No data available

First significant snow
of the year for Green Bay began last night and continues today
(0.6" on 11/15 and 2.3" on 11/16 at the air port). |

Rough-legged Hawk seen over Kidney Island in
lower Green Bay (Joan Berkopec). If you drive over the Tower Drive
Bridge, notice the new sand bars and "islands" in
Green Bay exposed by the low water levels. When the seiche (similar
to a tide) is low there are large exposures of sandbars, especially
near the two islands bordering the shipping channel. |

Buffleheads, Red-Breasted Mergansers, Common Goldeneyes
and one male Harlequin Duck were all seen for the first time
this year on lower Green Bay (Andy Paulios). An immature female Golden
Eagle was seen on the west shore of Green Bay and Hooded Mergansers
at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve. |
