Aug31	The average temperature for August in Green Bay was 68.9° F, about 1.4 degrees below the long-term average for the month. The highest temperature was 91 (Aug 9) and the lowest was 48 (Aug 24). Precipitation for the month was 4.23 inches, about 0.46 above the average.
Aug 27	Another 0.20 inches of rain after 0.74 inches yesterday in Green Bay.
Aug 26	Flocks of birds are becoming more obvious as the young have fledged and they begin to aggregate in preparation for migration. Swallows and the black birds are conspicuous. Wisconsin DNR reports some Nighthawks have been observed in migration.
Aug 25	Water level of most streams in northern Wisconsin is low enough to create difficulty for boating in some areas. Many lakes are also conspicuously low.
Aug 23	Today's low temperature of 49° F is the lowest temperature in Green Bay since the 49° on July 2.
Aug 18	Green Bay received 1.66 inches of rain.
Aug 14	I missed the start of flowering for both, but Lobelia siphilitica (great blue lobelia) and Chelone glabra (turtlehead) are both well into flower, Marinette County.
Aug 13	Solidago ulmifolia (elm-leaved goldenrod) in flower, City of Green Bay.
Aug 12	First day of flower for Lespedeza capitata (round-headed bush-clover) and Arctium minus (common burdock) on UWGB's Cofrin Arboretum.
Aug 09	Green Bay received 0.66 inches of rain today, the first significant rainfall in over 2 weeks. First day of open flowers for Solidago canadensis (Canada goldenrod) on UWGB campus. It is the most abundant goldenrod in our area and is responsible for much of the bright yellow color of local fields in late August and through September.
Aug 03	August is off to a hot start with successive high temperatures off 88, 89 and 91 on the first three days.
Aug 02	First open flowers of Rudbeckia laciniata (cut-leaved coneflower), UWGB.
