was 48 (Aug 24). Precipitation for the month was 4.23 inches, about

Flocks of birds are becoming more
obvious as the young have fledged and they begin to aggregate in preparation
for migration. Swallows and the black birds are conspicuous. Wisconsin
DNR reports some Nighthawks have been observed in migration. |

significant rainfall in over 2 weeks.
First day of open flowers for Solidago canadensis (Canada
goldenrod) on UWGB campus. It is the most abundant goldenrod
in our area and is responsible for much of the bright yellow color
of local fields in late August and through September.
