Graduate Checklist
Use this handy checklist to ensure you have everything completed before commencement.
Apply to Graduate
In order to participate in your commencement ceremony and receive your diploma, you must apply to graduate. After you apply, the option to sign up to participate in commencement will be available. We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible to receive important communication leading up to commencement.
Four Easy Steps
- Log in to SIS.
- From the dropdown menu, select "Other Academics" then "Apply for Graduation."
- Select "Edit Commencement Information" then "Sign Up for Commencement Ceremony."
- After all the fields are complete, click on "Save" at the bottom and then "Graduation Confirmation."
Order Your Cap & Gown
Deadline: April 14, 2026
If you plan to participate in your commencement ceremony, you must wear your cap, gown and tassel which can be purchased through the Phoenix Store. Master's degree students must also purchase the master's hood by April 9, 2026.

Attend Grad Bash
Tuesday, April 14, 2026 | 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Phoenix Rooms
Connect with campus and community resources, decorate your cap, enjoy free food and more! Plus, stop in the Phoenix Store for one-day-only sales on graduation bears, diploma frames and alumni gear.
Haven't ordered your cap and gown yet? Grad Bash is the last day to place your order at the Phoenix Store or online.
Pick Up Honors Cords
Students who meet a certain cumulative grade point average requirement are eligible to wear Honors cords at the commencement ceremony. Students who meet requirements will be notified via email.
Pick Up In Advance
Honors Cords can be picked up ahead of time at Grad Bash on April 14, 2026 or at the University Ticketing & Information Center from April 20 - May 8, 2026.
Pick Up At Commencement
Honors Cords will also be available to pick up on the day of commencement in the Grad Robing room.

Attend Your Commencement Ceremony
Let's celebrate your achievements! Make sure to review all important ceremony details, such as which ceremony you are participating in, parking information and hotel block details.

Spring Commencement
- Students whose classes end in May or August (Spring and Summer)
- Deadline to sign up for commencement: April 27
- Takes place in the Kress Events Center

Fall Commencement
- Students whose classes end in December or January (Fall and Winter)
- Deadline to sign up for commencement: Nov. 23
- Takes place in The Weidner
What to Wear
Look and feel your best on Commencement day. In addition to your cap and gown, show off your Phoenix Pride through official sashes, stoles or pins.
Apparel & Regalia
Approved academic apparel is required for all commencement participants and can be purchased on your own or through the Phoenix Bookstore. A number of academic and non-academic groups have approved regalia, such as cords, stoles, and pins available for their members to wear at commencement. International & Study Abroad Students
International students will receive a sash for their country of citizenship, and study abroad students will receive a sash for their country of study free of charge.

Grad Bash
Grad Bash is the perfect way to get familiar with commencement! Pick up resources, cap decorating supplies, free food and more. Make a memory at the Photo Booth and invite family and friends to join.

Getting Your Diploma
Your diploma will be mailed to the address you provided in SIS after graduation audits have been completed.

Requesting Transcripts
Transcripts are often needed when applying for jobs. Order both unofficial and official copies through the Registrar.
Graduation Communications
If you signed up for Commencement, you should have received email communications with important next steps and additional information. Look back on emails in case you missed them.
