Overview

Strong leadership calls for a sense of duty, integrity, courage, loyalty, respect, selfless service and honor. The study of military science fosters all those qualities in preparation for military service – and for life.

The military science program has commissioned both active-duty and reserve component officers for our nation’s defense.

During your first two years at UWGB, you can pursue the basic military science course with no military service commitment after graduation. The military science advanced course – which begins in your third year – does require a military service commitment.

Military Science Training at Work

Military science is concerned primarily with the exploration and development of leadership and management skills. The military science program of instruction is a core-type curriculum consisting of military skills and professional knowledge subjects.

When you successfully complete the advanced ROTC program and receive a bachelor’s degree, you become eligible for commissioning as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army (active or reserve).

Enhance Your Military Science Training

More than 980 students have graduated from our ROTC program.

Twelve graduates have attained the rank of general during their military careers. Thirty-three have attained the rank of colonel. Few schools offering ROTC can make such a claim.

At UWGB, you may be eligible for Army ROTC scholarships that cover two, three or four years of tuition plus room and board. Some of your living expenses may also be covered.

UWGB and St. Norbert’s College are combined to form Green Knight Company as a member of the Fox Valley Battalion, headquartered at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. It also includes companies from Marian University, Ripon College, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
