Student Engagement Center Program Development Assistant

Job Description Overview

The Program Development Assistant (PDA) will support the Signature & Cultural Events Coordinator in planning, implementing and evaluating cultural events. This role plays a key part in increasing cultural awareness and student engagement on campus through meaningful programming that reflects all of the identities of the UW-Green Bay students. This position requires cultural competency, attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Reports to: Signature & Cultural Events Coordinator; Assistant Director of Student Engagement

Primary Responsibilities

Cultural Program Support (Primary Focus)

  • Assist in the coordination, planning, and implementation of cultural and heritage month programs (e.g., Black History Month, Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Indigenous Peoples’ Recognition, Festival of Cultures, etc.).
  • Provide logistical support before and during events, including room setup, supplies, signage, food coordination and on-site assistance.
  • Support outreach efforts to student cultural organizations to help promote collaboration and student involvement.
  • Create and distribute promotional materials and assist in managing event marketing through tabling, social media and Phoenix Connect.
  • Maintain communication with student participants, performers, campus partners and speakers.
  • Track program attendance and gather feedback to help evaluate and improve future

Administrative & Communication Support

  • Monitor and send emails related to cultural programming and event logistics.
  • Input event data into Phoenix Connect and keep digital files organized.
  • Help maintain the Programmers Calendar and track upcoming cultural event deadlines.

Commencement (Minimal Support Role)

  • Provide occasional backup support to the Commencement team during high-need periods (e.g., Grad Bash).

Professional Development Expectations:

  • Complete Safe Ally Training.
  • Attend at least 2 events related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion during the semester.
  • Participate in at least one planning meeting or training related to cultural programming.

Qualifications and Salary:

All University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Student Engagement employees are required to be enrolled for at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits per semester with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

Successful applicants will be detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills (including taking instructions well, following through on tasks and completing work by deadlines) and communication skills (writing, proofreading, maintaining ongoing contact with supervisor, etc.). Applicants will be passionate about diversity, social justice, and inclusion and have the desire to help plan and evaluate programs. They will demonstrate initiative, the ability to both work independently and as part of a team and creativity. Experience with Excel and/or event planning is helpful but not necessary. Computer skills are necessary.

This position will require occasional evening and weekend hours.

Starting wage is $12.50/hour. Biannual wage increases are possible, contingent on performance.

The position will require around 15 hours of work per week.
