Course Description
This is a comprehensive self-paced training designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for effective crisis intervention, and lays the foundation for the live Crisis Core trainings. Covering a wide range of topics, including a philosophical overview of crisis, trauma-informed practices, mental health conditions, substance use disorders, legal considerations and de-escalation strategies, this course provides a thorough understanding of crisis intervention principles. You'll engage in interactive modules that include knowledge checks and quizzes, ensuring you're well-prepared to handle crisis situations with confidence and compassion.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand core values and practice principles of crisis intervention.
- Gain knowledge about trauma types, prevalence and impact on the brain.
- Recognize various mental health conditions and their crisis considerations for both adults and children.
- Develop skills in screening, assessing, and treating substance use disorders in the context of crisis situations.

After enrolling in the course in Canvas, participants will progress through each module in full, and must pass a quiz in order to proceed to the next module. Upon completion of the course, a certificate for 16 continuing education hours will be provided.
