Course Description

DBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy that has been proven effective with a multitude of behavioral health challenges, including borderline personality disorder, suicidality and self-harm, mood disorders, and substance use.  Distress Tolerance is the third of the offering of the DBT virtual workshops.  Distress Tolerance will focus on and discuss goals of distress tolerance, crisis survival skills and reality acceptance skills. 

Learning Objectives: 

  • Participant will learn the relationship between Distress Tolerance skills and the Secondary targets of Inhibited emotions and unrelenting crisis.  
  • Participant will learn and be able to teach and illustrate the Crisis survival skills of DBT.
  • Participant will learn and be able to teach and illustrate the Reality acceptance skills of DBT. 

About the Trainer

Jill Baures, Psy.D.

Jill Baures, Psy.D.

Dr. Baures is a a licensed psychologist and has been practicing for 10 years since graduating in 2015 from her doctoral program at Adler University in Chicago. Dr. Baures is married and has three living children and three non living children. Two of her losses were miscarriages, and one was a stillborn. Since losing her stillborn two years ago, she has invested in professional training around pregnancy loss and reproductive trauma. Dr. Baures hopes to continue growing in this area and in her practice, as well as presenting on this topic to help other professionals work with this demographic.
