Course Description

DBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy that has been proven effective with a multitude of behavioral health challenges, including borderline personality disorder, suicidality and self-harm, mood disorders, and substance use.  Interpersonal Effectiveness will focus on and discuss goals for interpersonal effectiveness and obtaining objectives skillfully in relationships. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how Interpersonal Effectiveness skills fit within the larger picture of DBT
  • Identify situations where clients can use Interpersonal Effectiveness skills
  • Explain how to apply Interpersonal Effectiveness skills
  • Describe ways to teach Interpersonal Effectiveness skills to clients

Kim Skerven, Ph.D., ABPP is a Licensed Psychologist specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She is a Certified Clinician through the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification. Dr. Skerven provides individual DBT, conducts DBT skills training groups, and provides DBT supervision.
