Course Description
This session explores the impacts of infertility and pregnancy loss on individuals and couples, highlighting key emotional, relational, and social challenges. Participants will learn how to understand and evaluate clients' experiences, apply evidence-informed interventions, and connect clients with supportive resources. Practical tools and guidance will equip clinicians to provide compassionate, informed care throughout the reproductive journey.
Learning Objectives:
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to identify psychological, relational, and identity-related losses associated with infertility and pregnancy loss.
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to identify physical, emotional and financial stressors of infertility and pregnancy loss.
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to recognize signs of stress and trauma-related responses in individuals experiencing infertility or reproductive loss.
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to demonstrate clinical strategies for assessing and providing evidence-informed interventions for clients experiencing infertility or pregnancy loss.
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to support clients in accessing mental health care, peer networks, and community resources during infertility and pregnancy loss.
About the Trainer
Julie Kull, LCSW
Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from the University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherine and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has over eight years of experience specializing in reproductive and maternal mental health, including infertility, pregnancy loss, and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.Julie is the owner of Kull Counseling, a private practice based in Madison, Wisconsin, and provides virtual services to clients throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. She has received advanced training in maternal and reproductive mental health through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Postpartum Support International, The Seleni Institute, and the OCD Training School. She is also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. In addition to her clinical work, Julie has presented on self-care and the grief of pregnancy loss and infertility. She is a member of the Madison Area Pregnancy and Postpartum Collective, where she previously served as a board member. She has facilitated a free pregnancy loss support group for the Madison community and volunteered with Bereaved Parents of Madison.
