Course Description
This training will provide an overview of the current landscape of geriatric suicidality, identifying risk factors and warning signs, interventions and best practices, self-care for mental health providers, and resources.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the prevalence and trends in geriatric suicidality, including the impact on communities and health systems.
- Participants will be able to identify key risk factors and warning signs associated with suicidality in the elderly, and understand how these factors differ from other age groups.
- Participants will learn effective interventions and best practices for preventing and managing suicidality in geriatric patients, including evidence-based therapeutic approaches and community resources.
- Participants will explore strategies for self-care and resilience to ensure mental health providers maintain their well-being while supporting geriatric patients at risk of suicidality.
