Course Description

This training will provide an overview of the current landscape of geriatric suicidality, identifying risk factors and warning signs, interventions and best practices, self-care for mental health providers, and resources.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the prevalence and trends in geriatric suicidality, including the impact on communities and health systems.
  • Participants will be able to identify key risk factors and warning signs associated with suicidality in the elderly, and understand how these factors differ from other age groups.
  • Participants will learn effective interventions and best practices for preventing and managing suicidality in geriatric patients, including evidence-based therapeutic approaches and community resources.
  • Participants will explore strategies for self-care and resilience to ensure mental health providers maintain their well-being while supporting geriatric patients at risk of suicidality.

Todd Sigler, PsyD, LP, NCC

Dr. Todd Sigler is a licensed psychologist working in private practice in Roseville, MN.  Dr. Sigler has a Masters and Doctor degree from the University of Saint Thomas in Minneapolis, MN in Counseling Psychology.  Dr. Sigler has been in private practice since 2004.  He mainly provides Psychological Assessments for patients who all have cognitive deficits/problems/issues/disorders ranging in ages 6 to 100 years.  Dr. Sigler also maintains an individual therapy practice.
