Organic Chemistry Bootcamps

UW-Green Bay offers organic chemistry laboratory bootcamps for CHEM 306 and CHEM 304/305 at two of our campuses.  Bootcamps are a time efficient and easy way to complete your organic CHEM lab requirements when you are home on summer or winter break.
 
The bootcamps are accepted and approved by all other accredited universities and have been designed to deliver lab hours over two accelerated weeks. UW-Green Bay’s CHEM 304 and 305 and CHEM 306 are equivalent to UW Madison’s CHEM 344.

CHEM 304 & 305

The bootcamp is an ideal solution for athletes and students with heavy class loads like pre-professional majors in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or chiropractic. UW-Green Bay’s CHEM 304 and 305 are equivalent to UW Madison’s CHEM 344. CHEM 304 and CHEM 305 bootcamps will cover basic and intermediate synthesis, purification and instrumental techniques in organic chemistry. Students interested in enrolling in CHEM 304 are expected to have already completed Organic Chemistry 1 lecture (CHEM 302 or equivalent) or have instructor’s permission. Students interested in enrolling in CHEM 305 are expected to have completed Organic Chemistry II lecture (CHEM 303 or equivalent).

Courses are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition must be paid in full by deadline to hold the student’s spot. No refunds will be issued once bootcamps begin.

CHEM 306

The bootcamp for CHEM 306 will cover basic laboratory techniques for organic chemistry including commonly used synthetic methods, purification and characterization of reaction products (2 credits). The bootcamp is an ideal solution for athletes and students with pre-professional majors in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or chiropractic. Students interested in enrolling in CHEM 306 bootcamp are expected to demonstrate an understanding of all lab techniques, reactions and instruments, regardless of prior exposure in lecture courses. Students should have completed general chemistry lecture and lab courses. In addition, it is HIGHLY recommended that students have successfully completed both Organic Chemistry I and II lecture courses before taking this bootcamp. UW-Green Bay’s CHEM 306 is equivalent to UW Madison’s CHEM 344.
