Emotion Hacks
Use the Science of Emotion to Improve Your Life
January 5-February 15, 2026
Self-Paced (Canvas)
This course helps participants understand the science of emotions and use that knowledge to improve their lives. Over six weeks, you’ll explore how and why you feel, what your emotions are trying to tell you and how to apply practical emotion hacks that can transform your mindset, relationships and behaviors. You’ll complete a personal project during that time—a guided plan to identify your patterns, practice specific hacks and measure your progress toward feeling better fast. Proceed at your own pace but complete all requirements within the six-week window.
Cost: Early bird enrollment $100 until December 15 and $150 after

Ryan Martin, also known as the Anger Professor, is a leading expert on emotional wellness and anger management. As the author of “Emotion Hacks: 50 Ways to Feel Better Fast,” he provides research-backed strategies to help people channel their emotions for personal growth. His TED Talk, “Why We Get Mad — and Why It’s Healthy,” and other public scholarship have made him a trusted voice on understanding and transforming anger. Whether you are nearing retirement, already retired, or beginning to develop a retirement plan, you can benefit from a wealth of real-world information and strategies for retirement success. This course focuses on how you may prepare for a comfortable retirement and introduces you to concepts and strategies that may help you handle your day-to-day finances, potentially reduce your taxes and manage your investments. What’s more, it will discuss how you can assess your current financial situation and develop a personalized plan that may help you pursue your retirement goals. The presenters teach the material in a way that is easy to understand, using real-life examples that may be applied to your situation. The course is presented in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where your participation and questions are encouraged! In this course, you will learn:
- How to calculate retirement needs
- Setting financial and lifestyle goals
- The importance of estate planning

Sulay R. Ringwala, CFP®, CDFA®
Sulay is a financial advisor and Certified Financial Planner™ at Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated. He has been teaching adult education courses on retirement planning and personal finance since 2015.
Alexandra Spangler, CFP®
Alexandra believes in a holistic approach to financial planning and enjoys customizing portfolios specific to clients’ needs and goals with a specific interest in family, legacy, and estate planning.
