UWGB Personal Financial Planning Program

Our CFP Board Registered Approved program prepares students for the financial planning profession to help future financial planning clients maximize life goals through financial advice. This program satisfies the educational requirements for students to be eligible to sit for the Certified Financial Planner™ exam. 
The program builds a pathway between UWGB students and NE Wisconsin financial advisory firms. The pathway prepares students for a successful entry into the financial planning and services industry and addresses the demand for career-ready talent to serve the NEW community.
The program includes the planning domains of personal financial planning fundamentals and planning skills across retirement savings & income planning, tax & estate, household risk management & insurance, and financial plan development. This program helps students develop professional ethics and client communication skills that are particular to financial planning.

Center for Personal Financial Planning
The Center for Personal Financial Planning will help build a culture and increase awareness for personal finance across the university and NEW community.  The Center facilitates live student and professional interactions, helps students matriculate through the program to career opportunities, and encourages community service through improved student and citizen financial well-being.
  • Peer-to-Peer Financial Counseling (Fall 2021) 
    Offer peer-to-peer financial coaching from CSB PFP students to UWGB students. The individual coaching sessions and group presentations on spending plans, positive saving practices, maximizing financial aid (including student loans), choose employee benefits and establish and wisely use credit. The purpose is to empower students to achieve their financial goals through a trusted space as students understand fellow students.    
  • Financial Literacy Community Outreach Program (Fall 2021) 
    UWGB PFP students provide fundamental personal finance education to NE WI community organizations and high schools. Outreach Program students possess the training to deliver non-biased financial education that empowers the audience to engage in personal finance practices and measuring techniques that increase financial well-being.
  •  VITA Tax Preparation 
    Offers free tax help to people who cannot afford professional assistance. Volunteers help prepare necessary tax returns for low-income taxpayers, the elderly, and students. 


Phoenix Personal Financial Planning Association - Phoenix PFPA

The Phoenix Personal Financial Planning Association (Phoenix PFPA) welcomes all students regardless of their major and builds a community of young professionals with an interest and passion for personal financial planning and financial services.
Provide members with professional development resources that include access to employers and faculty to facilitate internship, career, scholarship opportunities, and topic-driven presentations from personal financial planning and financial services professionals.
