Executive Board Members
President: Raffay Chaudhry
E-mail: sgaexecs@uwgb.edu or chaumr28@uwgb.edu
Hometown: Karachi, Pakistan
Major(s): Geology with a Math minor
Why I joined SGA: I joined SGA to enhance the experience of each student that puts their faith in this campus, but more importantly, the experience of minorities, low-income, and international students. The student body needs a voice. The goal is to be that voice but amplified, so that the administration cannot help but listen.
Goals/What I am hoping to accomplish this year: Some specifics include changing working conditions in dining, reducing orientation fees for international and transfer students, and creating a more welcoming environment for diverse students. Please reach out to me if you have any concerns, I’ve been told I listen well.
Vice President: Nafis Ishrak
E-mail: sgaexecs@uwgb.edu or ishrmn05@uwgb.edu
Hometown: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Major(s): Finance
Why I joined SGA: I joined SGA as Academic Affairs Chair to expand national opportunities for UWGB students while enhancing their academic experience.
Goals/What I am hoping to accomplish this year: This year, I plan to reinstate the Academic Affairs Chair with a strong cabinet of student senators representing all schools across UWGB, ensuring diverse expertise to address complex academic inquiries throughout the semester. I also plan to highlight and recognize professors and faculty members who significantly enhance students’ academic experiences.
Administrative Assistant: Naina Rattu
E-mail: rattn27@uwgb.edu
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Major(s): Human Biology
Why I joined SGA: A few of my friends who were already in SGA asked me to join last semester. When I did, I had a little doubt in myself, thinking that this wasn't the kind of organization I ever saw myself participating in. It was a different ball game than anything else I ever did, and I was intimidated, believing that I wouldn't fit in. However, the purpose of SGA and my own goals are very similar: to make a positive impact on the campus. With that, I found a home in something I never thought I would and found a new perspective in trying to bring change onto this university.
Goals/What I am hoping to accomplish this year: Because I'm very new at being Admin Assistant, I want to approach this role with as much confidence as I can. I want to keep communication between all branches as transparent and accurate as possible. Of course, I also want to create lasting memories with all of the members!
