Race to Road America Camp

Dream it, build it, then race it!

Learn Design Tech principals to dream up, create, and then race your own R.C. car! This three-day camp will take place at both the UW-Green Bay Sheboygan campus location and the Road America track! This special camp will end with all the campers competing their RC cars on a small course at Road America. This camp is brought to you through partnership with UW- Green Bay, Einstein Project and Road America.

Race to Road America

Campers will experience lo-fi design challenge builds, and then increase their skill level to include building a RC car, utilizing 3-D print and laser cutting to customize the car of their dreams. Then campers will spend a day ‘behind the scenes’ on the Road America campus, learning what it takes to become an amateur racer, tour the press room, see the race control room, and more! This special camp will end with all the campers competing their RC cars on a small course at Road America. This camp is brought to you through partnership with UW- Green Bay, Einstein Project and Road America. All Race to Road America Camp registrations will include admission tickets to the June Sprints taking place at Road America on Friday, June 21!

Schedule

This camp run time is specified above, the program will be held at UW- Green Bay, Sheboygan Campus on June 18 & 19 and Road America track on June 20. Transportation is not included, please plan to drop your camper off at specified location for each day of camp. Campers will participate in learning opportunities for each day of camp.

Tools for Success

Health Form

Our camp Health Forms are electronic! You will receive a notification from CampDoc once you register. You will then, need to finish your camper's profile up to 100% completion. Campers can only be admitted into camp when their camper profile is 100% complete. This must be complete a week prior to camp start. to camp that will prompt you to fill out your Health Form online. Health Forms must be filled out online before your camper checks-in to camp.

Accident Insurance

The UW-Green Bay Health and Counseling Center is not available for camps or other youth programs. Therefore, parents/guardians will be notified of any suspected or known illness or injury. Accident insurance through the University of Wisconsin is automatically included for all kids at camp. This limited policy covers injuries relating to camp accidents only. It is understood that medical costs in excess of camp insurance will be borne by parents or guardians.

Dennis Rockhill

Dennis Rockhill Makerspace Director, Einstein Project

Dennis joined the Einstein Project team in Fall 2017. He spent three years co-founding, managing and serving as the executive director of the nonprofit, Proto, Inc.; a youth-focused makerspace. From 1993-2015, Dennis held various technical, product development and design positions in the packaging industry with WS Packaging, Belmark, Inc., Kimberly-Clark Corp. and Wild Blue Technologies. He is an award-winning children's book author and illustrator and an alumni of UW-Green Bay with a degree in Graphic Design & Illustration.

This camp is offered in partnership with Road America.
Road America is a motorsport road course located near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. It has hosted races since the 1950s and currently hosts IndyCar Series, IMSA Sports Car Championship, Sports Car Championship, MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, and more.
