Cynthia Vopal
Cynthia L. Vopal (Cindy) is an Associate Lecturer for Legal Environment of Business and Law and the Individual for the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at UW-Green Bay.
She earned her J.D. from the Valparaiso University School of Law and was admitted to State Bar of Wisconsin in 1994. In 1991, she earned her Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, doubling majoring in Political Science and History and minoring in Spanish. Currently, she is a Circuit Court Commissioner responsible for hearing and deciding matters involving criminal law, family law, child support and injunctions. She has years of experience as an attorney in the community working in the areas of criminal defense, family law, probate, employment law and worker’s compensation law. From 2003-2008, she was the Municipal Court Judge for the Village of Bellevue, Wisconsin.
She is currently teaching Legal Environment of Business and Law and the Individual. Previously, she has taught Gender Law and Criminal Justice Process for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. As the Juvenile Prosecutor for Brown County, she has presented programs on sexual assault and the legal system at local high schools and middle schools. She, along with colleagues from the Brown County District Attorney’s Office, is also responsible for teaching at in-services for local law enforcement.
Cindy and Assistant State Public Defender Elisabeth Stockbridge assisted Washington Middle School with the implementation of a Teen Court for the 2017-2018 school year. She was also part of team of individuals responsible for rewriting the Athletic Code for De Pere High School. Cindy served on the Board of Track and Cross County Booster Club for De Pere High School and volunteered to work at many of the high school’s athletic and social events.
