Dr. Heather M. Clarke, Associate Professor of Human Resource Management, joined the Cofrin School of Business in August 2016 and is Chair of the Marketing and Management Department. 
 
Before joining UWGB, Heather earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of New Brunswick.  After practicing law for several years, she entered doctoral studies, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2016.  Heather’s PhD is in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management.    
 
Heather’s primary areas of research are workplace sexual harassment and employment discrimination.  Her work is published in high quality journals, including Journal of Vocational Behavior, Archives of Sexual Behavior, Human Performance, Evidence-Based HRM, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Business Ethics: A European Review, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Journal of Research in Gender Studies, Frontiers in Psychology, and Journal of Organizational Psychology
 
Maintaining an active research program, Heather has been awarded numerous external and internal research grants.  Her research has been presented at influential academic conferences, including Academy of Management, European Academy of Management, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, Canadian Psychology Association, and the Canadian Positive Psychology Association.  She also reviews for several journals in the areas of human resource management and gender and diversity.
 
Heather received Student Nominated Teaching Recognition in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and was appointed a UWGB Teaching Scholar for the 2017-2018 academic year.  Heather is committed to providing students with meaningful experiential learning and currently teaches employment law, HRM analytics, and performance management.  Heather has also taught courses in business law, international business law, organizational behavior, introduction to human resource management, employee development, recruitment and selection, and compensation and benefits.
