Jim Loebl holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Law School. He is both a lawyer and CPA. Prior to teaching at UW-Green Bay, Jim spent four years as a lecturer in Accounting at Marquette University and four years teaching Trusts and Estates, Estate and Gift Tax and Individual Income Tax at the Valparaiso University School of Law. Jim's real world experience includes five years of corporate budgeting and strategic planning, two years clerking for Judge Charles P. Dykman in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and two years of practice in the areas of corporate law and estate planning.
At UW-Green Bay, Jim has taught Intermediate Accounting I and II, Advanced Accounting and Advanced Income Tax Theory and Practice. He served as the Chair of the Business Administration Program from 2015-2019 and as the Chair of Accounting from 2017-2019. He has also spent many years on the Faculty Senate and is currently Chair of the University Committee. For four years, Jim supervised UW-Green Bay students preparing returns for lower income taxpayers at multiple locations in Green Bay as part of the IRS' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
At this point in his career, Jim would like to work with area high schools to increase the number of students majoring in Accounting at UW-Green Bay, especially those from underrepresented populations.
