Yer Xiong

Hello! My name is Yer Xiong, and I’m excited to be joining the Multicultural Resource Center as of Summer 2025 as a Multicultural Advisor. I’m a proud alumna of UW-Green Bay and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). With over 12 years of experience in the education field—ranging from Early Childhood to Higher Education—I’ve had the privilege of working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.

I was born in Fresno, California, and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. As a first-generation Hmong woman, my educational journey didn’t follow a traditional path. Like many of my siblings, I began college after marriage and became a parent before starting my professional career. These experiences have deeply shaped my perspective and passion for education, and they fuel my desire to create welcoming spaces for students navigating similar journeys.

Some of my hobbies I enjoy doing outside of work are spending time with my families, hiking, chasing waterfalls and baking.

As your Multicultural Advisor, my goal is to build meaningful connections and create a welcoming space where all students feel seen, heard, and empowered. I’m here to support your academic, personal, and cultural journey through mentorship, inclusive programming, and advocacy—because every student’s story matters.
