Financial Abuse Specialist Teams (FASTs)
Responding to
Financial Abuse
Learn the purpose and mission of Financial Abuse Specialist Teams.
A Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST) is a multidisciplinary team of professionals that collaborates to identify, investigate and respond to financial exploitation, improve coordination among systems and strengthen prevention and early intervention efforts. As Wisconsin’s population of older adults continues to grow, so does the need for strong, coordinated systems to protect this vulnerable group from financial abuse and exploitation.

A subgroup of the Wisconsin Elder Justice Coalition developed a statewide FAST process, a toolkit with resources and a pilot program to add at least five teams to the existing four. Over two and a half years, the coalition increased the number of counties participating in a FAST from 5% to 49%, far exceeding the initial goal. This was made possible with a grant from the National Center for State and Tribal Elder Justice Coalitions at Lifespan of Greater Rochester.
FAST Toolkit & Resources
Find everything you need to start a FASTs Team.
After researching the challenges and successes of teams in Wisconsin and three other states, the FAST Committee created a statewide process, toolkit and resources for coordinators to start and sustain their teams. We house them on the website to make the resources available to anyone, anywhere, at any time.
