How to Apply for Fall 2026

Follow the steps below to complete your application.

Step1: Submit the Online Application

Complete the UW-Green Bay graduate application through the Universities of Wisconsin system and pay the $56 non‑refundable application fee

Apply Here

Step2: Send Official Transcripts

Submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities where you attempted 9 or more credits. Transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution. You don't need to submit UW-Green Bay transcripts (if you attended UW-Green Bay) or Study abroad transcripts for one semester or less. UW-Green Bay may request additional transcripts if needed.

Send transcripts by one of the following methods:

  • Email: uwgb@uwgb.edu
  • Mail:
    UW-Green Bay Admissions
    2420 Nicolet Drive
    Green Bay, WI 54311

Step3:Provide Letters of Recommendation

You will need two letters of evaluation as part of your application. Preferably one from a faculty advisor and one from an employer or supervisor, but both may be from a faculty advisor. These materials must be submitted by your evaluators, not by you. The graduate admissions office will not accept recommendations submitted by the applicant. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Request a recommendation using the evaluation form. Traditional reference letters are alternatively accepted.
    • Complete the first two sections of the ES&P letter of evaluation form.
    • Save the form and send it to each evaluator you have selected. At least one academic reference is preferred, especially for traditional or accelerated applicants.
    • Each evaluator will complete the remaining sections.
  2. Each evaluator will send their completed form or letter directly to the Office of Graduate Studies on your behalf by one of the following methods:
    • Email: gradstu@uwgb.edu
    • Mail:
      Office of Graduate Studies
      UW-Green Bay
      2420 Nicolet Drive
      Green Bay, WI 54311

Step4:Submit a Statement of Interest

Submit a 200–300 word statement of interest that clearly explains:

  • Your academic background and relevant experience.
  • Your scientific interests and areas of focus.
  • Your goals for graduate study in environmental science.
  • (If applicable) potential faculty mentors you may want to work with. If you plan to pursue the Thesis Track, you’re encouraged to mention faculty whose research aligns with your interests.

Step5:Select Your Degree Track

Indicate your preferred degree track in your application: Thesis, Practicum or Capstone. If no track is selected, you will be admitted to the Capstone Track by default. You can change tracks later with advisor approval.

  • Thesis Track: You’re encouraged to connect with potential faculty advisors before applying, but it is not required.
  • Practicum Track: Contact the program chair before applying to discuss opportunities and expectations.
  • Capstone Track: No additional steps required at application.

Application Review & Timeline

Applications are reviewed twice per year. To be considered for funding opportunities such as graduate assistantships, submit your application by:

  • October 1 (Spring enrollment)
  • January 15 (Fall enrollment)

Applications may continue to be reviewed until positions and funding are filled.
