Choose Your Start Term
Because UW-Green Bay is transitioning to a new graduate application system, your application process depends on the term you plan to start. Choose your entry term below to find the right path forward. Application fees are non-refundable.
Fall 2026 Application
If you plan to begin the Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy program in Fall 2026, you’ll apply using the Universities of Wisconsin application.
- Applications close: Late August 2026
- Classes Begin: September 2, 2026
Spring 2027 Application
If you plan to start in Spring 2027 or any future term, you’ll apply through GradCas, UW-Green Bay’s new graduate application system.
- Applications open: April 20, 2026
- Classes Begin: January 25, 2027
Admission Requirements
To apply to the Environmental Science & Policy (MS) program, you must meet the minimum requirements below.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3.0 GPA (grade point average) on a 4.0 scale for the final two years of undergraduate study.
- Introductory statistics course (or equivalent)
If you show strong potential but don't meet every requirement, you may still be considered for provisional admission. Your academic background and professional experience are reviewed as part of the admission decision. The GRE isn't required.
Choose a Program Track
When you apply, you’ll be asked to indicate your preferred ES&P program track—thesis, practicum or capstone. If no track is selected, you’ll be admitted to the capstone track by default. You can change tracks later with advisor approval.
Thesis Track
Best for research-focused students or those considering doctoral study.
- Conduct original research
- Work closely with a faculty advisor
- Complete a thesis and defense

Practicum Track
Apply your skills through a structured, real-world project.
- Work with an organization or agency
- Complete a major applied project
- Collaborate with faculty and a site supervisor
Requirement: Contact the program chair before applying to discuss fit and expectations.
Capstone Track
A flexible, course-based option for working professionals.
- Focus on advanced coursework
- Customize electives to your interests
- No thesis or practicum required
Preparing for Success
