Celebrating Heirloom Varieties

Vegetables have been cultivated and shared for thousands of years, creating diverse varieties with unique flavors, colors, yields and growing traits. Over time, commercial farming prioritized shelf life and transportability, causing many flavorful heirloom varieties to disappear. Today, gardeners and seed-saving organizations are helping preserve this biodiversity.

The UW-Green Bay Heirloom Plant Sale celebrates these treasured plants, offering varieties suited for the Midwest along with vegetables from around the world, including peppers and tomatoes from South America, the Caribbean, Europe and southeast Asia.
