Hernan Fernandez-Meardi

Born in Mendoza, Argentina, he has completed his undergraduate studies in Hispanic Studies at the Laval University (Quebec City, Canada) and his graduate degree in Comparative Literature at the University of Montréal (Montreal, Canada). He has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville before coming to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in fall 2007. His first research was focused on the articulation of the concept of violence as the promoter of an aesthetic change of paradigms in Hispanic literature. His current works discuss about the links between the cultural economy in Latin American modernity, the subaltern groups in Latin American and the discourses of the construction of identities in Latin-American countries. In addition, he is interested in the links between popular culture and high culture as well as the representation of marginalized groups in the cinema of Latin America. He leads a Study Abroad to Argentina.
