Course Description

Equip behavioral health professionals with up‑to‑date, practical knowledge, screening tools, communication strategies, and community resources to improve care for older adults.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe current demographic and policy trends affecting behavioral health needs of older adults and identify two practice implications.
  • Differentiate normal age‑related changes from signs of pathological cognitive or functional decline.
  • Apply validated mood and anxiety screening approaches (PHQ‑9, GAD‑7) with older adults, including common adaptations for sensory, literacy, and cultural differences.
  • Use practical communication strategies and anti‑ageism language to improve engagement, obtain informed consent, and document capacity concerns.
  • Plan and commit to one feasible workflow change (intake question, screening trigger, or documentation template) to implement within 30 days.

Todd Sigler, PsyD, LP, NCC

Dr. Todd Sigler is a licensed psychologist working in private practice in Roseville, MN.  Dr. Sigler has a Masters and Doctor degree from the University of Saint Thomas in Minneapolis, MN in Counseling Psychology.  Dr. Sigler has been in private practice since 2004.  He mainly provides Psychological Assessments for patients who all have cognitive deficits/problems/issues/disorders ranging in ages 6 to 100 years.  Dr. Sigler also maintains an individual therapy practice.
