Course Description

80% of suicides in the United States of America are men, but you wouldn't know this from standard suicide prevention messaging. There are four male suicide deaths for every female, and men are not even on the CDC's priority population list. We inherently recognize the need for culturally tailored approaches to intervention for many groups but fail to see the need to have male-specific interventions. We need to start taking male suicide seriously.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify scope of male suicide problem
  • Recognize cultural and psycho-evolutionary aspects that drive male suicide
  • Develop a male specific framework for suicide prevention with men
