We're back for another exciting year.

Enjoy seven magical evenings of music with the wind ensemble and big band, performed by local community members, UW-Green Bay students and high school students. Our talented musicians are committed to presenting you with a variety of repertoire at the highest level, with everything from jazz classics to patriotic works, solo features, film music, and holiday favorites. We can’t wait to make music for you!

An American Salute - Wisconsin Rhapsody
Saturday, May 3, 2025, 7:30 p.m.
Conductor Jeremiah Eis
Guest: Dr. Justin Krueger

The season will conclude with a salute to veterans and Wisconsin artists during our “An American Salute: Wisconsin Rhapsody” concert! Guest pianist Dr. Justin Krueger, Vice-President of the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association, will be performing the now 100-year- old Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. Works by Wisconsin composers will also be featured, including LWE’s own Brian Van Ells, Pierre LaPlante and Gary Audry. Audry’s arrangement is the title track for the WWII mini-series Masters of the Air, which will be performed along with the video trailer. Our veterans will also be honored during the concert with service songs for each branch.   

Guest vocalist and Lakeshore favorite, David Bourgeois, returns to the Capitol stage to sing several pieces including Mansions of the Lord, As Time Goes By and America the Beautiful. You don’t want to miss this tribute to Wisconsin with LWE conductor Jeremiah Eis at the helm.

Music of the Masters, Book vs. Film: The Lord of the Rings

The LWE opened the season with music from The Lord of the Rings. Medleys from all three movies will be performed, as well as Johan de Meij’s 1988 award-winning symphony inspired by the Tolkien book series.

Festival of Christmas, "Ring" in the Season

Conductor Jeremiah Eis and the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble “rang” in the holiday season with the Conservatory Ringers Handbell Ensemble from the Holy Family Conservatory of Music, guest narrator Tom Zalaski and the LWE Children’s Choir directed by Ginger Van Ells. Selections include music of John Rutter, and Christmas classics like The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Sleigh Ride and a festive favorite - the audience Christmas sing-along!

Pops Concert - It's Electric!

This was an eclectic mix of songs from early big band music to modern synthesized sounds. We will feature Electric Light Orchestra’s Mr. Blue Sky, the disco version of Beethoven’s Fifth and the electronic sounds of Journey, Van Halen and Muse. Vocalists include Kim Hoffman, Rachel Ziolkowski, Sam Oswald, Maddie Woller and Manitowoc area high school choirs: Lincoln, Lutheran, Roncalli and Two Rivers.

Winds of March - the Best of the Best

Guests: LWEA Young Artist Competition Winners

This event celebrated the winner of the Wesley Teply Community Service Award in the Arts for their contribution to the arts in our Lakeshore community these past 100 years, the Holy Family Conservatory of Music. They have been a means to transform the ordinary by fostering the beauty and power of music and the arts through instruction, appreciation of skills, encouragement and performance, and acts as a venue for area groups and activities while nurturing reverence for all persons.

There was a variety of music including John Williams’ “Summon the Heroes,” Percy Grainger’s “Children’s March,” music from Star Trek and the winners of the LWEA Young Artist Competition play their competition pieces. The first-place winner of the LWEA Young Artist Competition is Garrett Myers, senior at Lawrence University, playing “Concerto for Alto Saxophone, Mvt. 1” by Paul Creston. Second place is Jase Beekhuizen, senior at Sheboygan Falls High School, playing “Serenade for Alto Saxophone” by Frank Bencriscutto. Third place is Ian Koelemay, junior at Stevens Point Area Senior High, playing “Concerto for Horn No. 1, Mvt. 1” by Richard Strauss.

MARDI GRAS: A Trip to New Orleans with Kevin Van Ess & Friends

Renowned clarinet/saxophone virtuoso Kevin Van Ess and members of his band The Talk Of The Town joined WAMI nominated musician and Lakeshore Big Band Conductor, Paul Sucherman, and the LBB with a program of Dixieland and Mardi Gras favorites such as "South Rampart Street Parade," "Night Train" and "When the Saints Go Marching In!"

The Lakeshore Wind Ensemble is a great place that brings people from the community together of all different ages, interests, careers to work together toward the common goal of creating interesting and fun concerts together. Being the Assistant Director of both the LWE and the LBB, I’m honored that I get to lead both groups for our annual Pops Concert each January."

Meet Jeremiah Eis, conductor of the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble. An active low brass performer, he has performed with the 132D Army Band, Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra, Newtonburg Brass Band, Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra. He's even performed at a Packer half-time show! If you have questions, he can help.
