Eric Hansen, a member of the UW-Green Bay faculty since 2006, serves as Associate Professor of Music and instructor of Applied Clarinet, conducts the Woodwind Ensemble, and teaches many other Music courses. A native of Wyoming, Hansen actively performs a wide variety of music including Classical, Jazz, Klezmer, and advanced Contemporary works requiring extended instrumental techniques.  He co-authored the clarinet method book, Extreme Clarinet (published by Potenza Music), which guides readers in developing high-skill woodwind technical finesse and extended techniques including multiple articulation, circular breathing, and extreme upper-register tone control.

Hansen's highlights include his role as Principal Clarinetist of the Weidner Philharmonic Orchestra, numerous faculty solo and chamber recitals including multiple live broadcasts on Wisconsin Public Radio, featured appearances with music ensembles across Wisconsin - and with the Yellowstone Jazz Festival Big Band performing the music of Artie Shaw, and he has recorded extensively with the Trade Winds Ensemble (Tampa, FL).

His past clarinet teachers include Scott Wright, Robert Spring, Alan LaFave, Marianne Bibbey, and his Music Education background fuels his dedicated passion for teaching students of all ages and skill levels. He has taught at the UW-Green Bay Summer Music Camps, the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp and the International Music Camp.

Hansen's interdisciplinary research interests include the technology, history, psychology and sociology involved in the craft behind the music of video games, and he designed a related course, including a version for UWGB's Freshmen Seminar program.
