Whitney Myers, soprano, has had the pleasure of performing with numerous opera companies such as the Winter Opera St. Louis, Tulsa Opera, Music on Site Inc., Opera Programs Berlin, Tundi Productions, Utah Vocal Arts Festival, Dallas Opera, Roanoke Opera, Mississippi Opera, Marble City Opera, Millennium Opera, UNC-G Opera, Schmidt Opera Outreach, UK Opera Theatre, and Greensboro Opera.  She has been seen in the roles of Lady MacBeth in MacBeth, the title role in Carmen, Helmwige in Die Walküre, Chrysothemis in Elektra, Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Elle in La Voix humaine, the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Violetta in La Traviata, Tsarevna in Kashchei the Immortal, Ludmila in The Bartered Bride, Vendedora in La Vida Breve, Octet Member in Barnum’s Bird, Suor Genovieffa and Zelatrice in Suor Angelica, Olympia in Pinnochio, 1st Lady and 2nd Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Clorinda from La Cenerentola. Myers has also had the pleasure of covering the title roles in Salome and Suor Angelica, as well as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre and Siegfried

Myers has been honored to perform as a guest soloist both nationally and internationally.  Myers recently had the privilege of performing Brünnhilde in concert for the Wagner in Vermont Festival’s partial Ring Cycle in 2022 and 2023. While working with the Wagner in Vermont Festival, Myers presented a lecture recital on Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder and Isolde’s Liebestod.  During her years in Oklahoma, Myers maintained a position as a Filstrup Resident Artist with Tulsa Opera and was seen in their Opera on the Go! production of Billy Goats Gruff where she sang the role of Lucy. Myers was also seen in Tulsa Opera’s concert at the Constantine Theater singing music from operas such as Tosca and Carmen.

In Spring 2024, Myers will be singing the soprano solo for Signature Symphony’s performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.  In previous seasons, Myers had the privilege of premiering the role of Frankie in the world premiere of Royal Flush with Marble City Opera. Myers’s other engagements have consisted of singing scenes from Verdi’s Otello and MacBeth, as well as presenting Strauss’s Ophelia Lieder for a Shakespeare Concert with Marble City Opera. Myers also performed arias from La Wally and Die tote Stadt in the Stars of Tomorrow Opera Gala with Mississippi Opera.  She has also had the privilege of performing arias from Otello, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Wally, and A Little Night Music with the National Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine at the Bouquet Kyiv Stage Festival.

In 2019, Myers had the privilege of singing with the Tulsa Ballet in their world premiere of Tchaikovsky: The Man Behind the Music, and was asked to return for the 2023 season to reprise her role. Myers has had the privilege of sharing her artistry in other exciting engagements throughout the years, such as singing for the Tribal Film Festival where she presented arias from the opera Turandot. Myers also presented excerpts from Cherubini’s opera Médée for the French opera symposium Opera, Politics, and Parody in Nineteenth-Century France.  Myers has also had the privilege of performing with the critically-acclaimed American Spiritual Ensemble, touring Ireland and singing at venues such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Other international venues Myers has graced the stages of as a soloist are Mirabell Gardens, St. Stephens Cathedral, Amerika Haus, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Mondsee Cathedral.  

Myers is a winner of numerous competitions and awards such as the John Alexander Vocal Competition in 2019, Kentucky District National Metropolitan Opera Council auditions in 2013, the Gail Robinson Musicianship Award in 2012, and named an Alltech Vocal Scholar in 2012. Myers was also a finalist in the 2021 Opera Ithaca Edward M. Murray International Voice Competition and the 2021 Lyra New York International Vocal Competition, as well as a semi-finalist in the 2021 Grand Prix International Music Competition and the 2018 New York Lyric Opera Competition.  Myers also enjoys stage directing, and has the privilege of directing show such as A Little Night Music, The Old Maid and the Thief, L’elisir d’amore, The Fantasticks (cancelled due to covid), and 9 to 5 The Musical. Myers also frequently presents recitals across the US presenting works by Schoenberg, Strauss, Wagner, Berlioz, and Poulenc.  Myers completed her Doctor of Musical Arts and Bachelor of Music at the University of Kentucky and her Master of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
