Scholarships

Information on how & when to apply for the following scholarships will be sent to students, currently enrolled in the Nursing program, via their UW-Green Bay email address in the spring semester.
 

The Hazel E. Latsha Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Louis and Susan LeCalsey, longtime friends of UW-Green Bay established this scholarship in in memory of Sue LeCalsey’s mother, Hazel Elizabeth Latsha. Hazel lived a vibrant 93 years, but did have several chronic health issues the last 20 years of her life. Hazel and her family especially appreciated the importance of compassionate caregivers and nurses.  It is with this in mind that the LeCalsey’s established this scholarship in Nursing, so that future nurses can carry on the history of exemplary patient care.
 
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Undergraduate nursing major enrolled full-time at UW-Green Bay
  • Preference to applicants who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA Federal Needs Analysis Formula
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and must be enrolled in the UW-Green Bay Campus Track
 

Loretta Wells Scholarship for Brown County Residents- Up to 5 Awards

Mrs. Wells was a nurse who received her education from St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay. She worked throughout her career from the early to mid-1900’s and was devoted to nursing and interested in helping in the education of nursing students.
 
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Brown County resident; UW-Green Bay Nursing student
  • Good academic standing
  • Letter explaining why you are meritorious and/or financially in need of a scholarship
  • Fall and Spring enrollment
  • You may (but do not need to) include documentation (above the 2 page limit) of your academic performance, reference letters, service to community, documentation of financial need as indicated by Financial Aid Form analysis, employment history, and education related debt.
 

Lorraine M. Noll Memorial Scholarship

Created by the family of Lorraine Noll to recognize her contributions to, and leadership for, the Nursing Program at UW-Green Bay. Before the days of web-based instruction, Lorraine was instrumental in extending the RN-BSN program throughout Northeast WI.
 
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Second year student enrolled in the RN-BSN program, enrolling in fall and spring semesters.
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Dedication to learning and the field of nursing
  • Commitment to community health nursing
 

Louis & Susan LeCalsey Scholarship

Lou and Sue LeCalsey, are long-time friends of UW-Green Bay since 1969 when Lou coached soccer. Lou has served on the Chancellor’s Council of Trustees, UW-Green Bay
Foundation’s Board of Directors and was a successful business man in Green Bay. Awarded to students majoring in Nursing.
 
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Undergraduate student enrolled full-time at UW-Green Bay
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and must be participating in the UW-Green Bay campus track.
 

Mimi and Ken Kubsch Endowed Scholarship

Honoring Drs. Mimi & Ken Kubsch’s dedication to healthcare in Northeast Wisconsin. Mimi began her career at UW-Green Bay in 1980 to develop the nursing program; Ken began his Internal Medicine practice in 1975 in Green Bay.

Scholarship Criteria:
  • Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Nursing at UW-Green Bay.
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in the nursing program
  • Preference will be given to continuing students who have completed at least nine upper level credits of coursework at UW-Green Bay
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate proficiency or experience in Holistic Nursing.

Dorothy Underwood Nursing Scholarship

Sherri Underwood Johnson, a 2006 graduate the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in the RN to BSN program, establishes this nursing scholarship in honor of her mother, Dorothy Underwood, RN, a 1956 graduate from the Akron City (Ohio) Hospital School of Nursing. Dorothy worked as a nurse for 43 years and kept her nursing license current until the age of 78, believing in the importance of continuing education. The scholarship also honors Ruby Sirk Wolverton, Dorothy's aunt, who is part of the family legacy of nursing.
 
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Must be admitted to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as a full- or part-time degree-seeking undergraduate student
  • Must be seeking a degree in the nursing program
  • Preference given to nursing students in the RN to BSN track
  • Preference given to students in good academic standing and showing promise for excellence in nursing

The above scholarships are awarded spring semester for the next academic year.
