1SEPP Graduate Program Assistantship
Note: Two SEPP Graduate Assistantships will be available starting Fall 2026 and each position is a two-year term, dependent upon performance and assistantship funding. The SEPP assistantship position is filled for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the M.S. Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology program through updating social media and webpages, organizing events, assisting with program operations and more.
- Assist with instruction and logistics in undergrad psychology courses such as communicating with instructors and students, making instructional videos, coordinating research administration, developing course materials and more.
- Other tasks may be assigned, as appropriate, to support the SEPP Program and the Psychology Department.
Each SEPP graduate assistant is under the supervision of and reports to the Chair of the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Program and the Chair of the Department of Psychology. The assistantship is funded through the Office of Graduate Studies.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Admission to the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Program.
- Enrollment in a minimum of six credits per semester and no fewer than 15 credits per academic year.
- Maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average for graduate courses.
- Demonstrate outstanding potential for program and instructional support.
- Experience with social media/marketing/promotion.
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students and staff.
- Demonstrate attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in completing assigned tasks.
- Strong task management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Qualtrics and Canva.
- Experience with data management.

Application
The SEPP Chair will notify enrolled SEPP students of the application call. Here are the application materials you will need:
- SEPP Program Application material will be reviewed (no need to re-submit as part of the GA application process).
- Assistantship Essay (500-1000 words) that describes how your academic background, professional goals, and experiences prepare you to make meaningful contributions to the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology (SEPP) field and the UW-Green Bay SEPP Program.
- Additionally, in your response, please address the following:
- Experiences that speak to your leadership potential
- Experiences in sport, exercise, and performance domains
- Your vision for how graduate training will can prepare you for a SEPP-related career
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and how these skills have supported your academic and professional work
- Experience with content creation, social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn), and web development, and how you believe these might enhance outreach, education, or engagement in the SEPP field
- Additionally, in your response, please address the following:
- Writing Sample of a recent academic or professional document that demonstrates your ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.
- Resume that highlights experiences with the minimum (and where applicable, preferred) qualifications.
2Consortium of Applied Research Graduate Assistantship
Note: Assistantship positions are filled for the 2025-2026 academic year.This graduate assistant position provides support through the Consortium of Applied Research (CAR). Dr. Jenell Holstead, a UWGB Psychology faculty member, offers this position to two SEPP graduate students. This position is expected to devote approximately 20 hours per week to applied data collection, data cleaning, writing of reports and preparing documents for the Wisconsin 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative. Activities include:
- Completing data quality checks to ensure data are reliably entered into the system.
- Providing technical assistance virtually to afterschool program staff regarding questions surrounding the data.
- Communicating data findings to key stakeholders.
- Other tasks may be assigned, as appropriate, to support the Director of the CAR.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:- Admission to the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Program.
- Enrollment in a minimum of six credits per semester and no fewer than 15 credits per academic year.
- Maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average for graduate courses.
- Demonstrate outstanding potential for research, data collection and writing.
Preference will be given to a student who has experience in K-12 education or experience in afterschool programs or youth-serving organizations.
Compensation
This position is year-long, with a 9-month assistantship during the academic year and hourly pay in summer months. The start date is August of each year. This position will work hourly in the summer (at the rate of $16.35 per hour). When the school year begins, students will be compensated as a 9-month Graduate Assistant Position (See the Graduate Studies website). After the academic year, the position is funded on an hourly rate during the summer months. The position may renew for a second year dependent upon performance and grant funding.
Application
This position is offered by Dr. Holstead, not Graduate Studies. When a CAR graduate assistant position is available, the SEPP chair will notify students via an email calling for CAR graduate assistantship applications. Application materials include a cover letter, a resume, and contact information for two references who could speak about your abilities.
