UWGB Esports Graduate Assistant
Overview:
The UWGB Esports Graduate Assistant position within University Recreation (UREC) at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay offers graduate students an opportunity to contribute to campus wellness while gaining hands-on experience in university esports facility programming and management. Reporting to the Esports Coordinator, the Esports Graduate Assistant will work collaboratively to oversee Esports Lounge operations, supervise student staff, and develop esports & gaming specific programs that engage the university community. This is an in-person position.
Term:
This position is a one-year term starting in August 2026 with possibility for renewal for one additional year.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Staff Management:
- Provide leadership and guidance to Esports Lounge student managers & assistants, ensuring alignment with UREC’s mission and goals.
- Collaborate with the Esports Coordinator to conduct staff training, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development opportunities for student staff members.
- Act as primary scheduler of lounge assistants.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and personal growth among student staff.
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Work closely with the Esports Coordinator to develop and implement esports & gaming programs and events that meet the diverse needs and interests of the campus community.
- Assist in marketing and promoting esports team matches, esports programming, and collaborative events to increase participation, engagement, and awareness among students, faculty, staff, and the Phoenix community.
- Stay informed about current esports industry trends, industry best practices, and evidence-based programming to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the Esports program’s offerings.
- Esports Lounge Facility Operations:
- Collaborate with the Esports Coordinator to oversee daily operations of the Esports Lounge and Broadcast Studio, including equipment maintenance, facility cleanliness, inventory, and risk management protocols.
- Assist with scheduling and supervision of Esports Lounge Assistant staff to ensure coverage during operating hours and compliance with UREC & University Union policies and procedures.
- Address patron concerns or issues promptly and professionally, maintaining a positive and welcoming environment for all users.
- Event Coordination and Outreach:
- Work collaboratively with campus partners and student organizations to plan and execute esports & gaming related events, workshops, and outreach initiatives.
- Represent the Esports Lounge and campus-wide events and engage with the university community to promote esports & gaming programs, services, and resources.
- Collaborate with the Esports Coordinator to host colleges and high schools on campus for various tournaments and events during some weekends.
- Administrative Support:
- Assist the Esports Coordinator in maintaining accurate records of program participation, staff schedules, team practice & match schedules, and equipment inventory.
- Support data collection, assessment, and evaluation efforts to measure program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
- Remain flexible and open to taking on additional tasks or projects as directed by UREC leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Acceptance into a UW-Green Bay graduate program
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and student staff.
- Availability to work occasional weekends
- High organization and communication skills
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of esports programming and staff supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a university esports program
- Experience in facility management, staff supervision, or related fields
- Knowledge of PC gaming hardware & software
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook & Excel
