About Us
Overview
The College of Health, Education & Social Welfare is an academic division of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. It has three academic programs and three community support partnerships. Each program provides academic excellence and stresses the importance of connecting and collaborating with the community we serve. Students have the opportunity to learn and connect on campus, on-line, and in related field experiences. The programs and partnerships offered by the College of Health, Education & Social Welfare are highly regarded in the region. Graduates from any of the programs can be assured high job placement rates and opportunities to use the connections made at UW-Green Bay.
What academic programs are in the College of Health, Education & Social Welfare?
- The Professional Program in Education offers undergraduate specialization options ranging from teaching Early Childhood to Adolescence (pre-kindergarten thru high school). Each student of the program will complete student teaching which offers hands-on learning on how to be an effective leader in the classroom. Other degree offerings within the Education department include a Master of Science in Applied Leadership for Teaching and Learning and a First Nations Education Doctoral Program (FNED).
- The Nursing and Health Studies program provides the opportunity to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing or health-related programs via campus and on-line learning courses including:
- NURSE 1-2-1: A four year nursing program to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through the combined resources of UW-Green Bay and NWTC
- RN-BSN Completion: A program for Registered Nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on campus or online
- Health Information Management & Technology: Undergraduate degree that build on health and computer knowledge in the growing field of health informatics
- Master of Science in Nursing: For Registered Nurses who currently hold a BSN to earn a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management in Health Care Systems.
- Master of Science in Health & Wellness Management: An online graduate program focused on management for health and wellness professionals.
- Community Health Education: An undergraduate program focused on wellness to promote a better quality life for all.
- The Professional Programs in Social Work offers both the Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees. Students will also complete field experience in community organizations for the highest level of learning before they graduate.
What do the Community Partnership programs in the College of Health, Education & Social Welfare offer?
- The Behavioral Health Training Partnership provides professional training and consulting in crisis prevention and intervention through enhancement of behavioral health services for 19 Wisconsin counties.
- The Phuture Phoenix Program supports the educational aspirations for area 5th and 8th graders from Title I schools through campus visits and tutoring/mentoring support. A tutoring/mentoring program places students pursuing an education degree in area schools to inspire youth to finish high school and consider post-secondary education. Phuture Phoenix Scholarships are available to eligible students attending UW-Green Bay.
- Center for First Nations Studies Education is a resource dedicated to improving and supporting First Nations (American Indian) education and teacher education programs. The goal is to help educators with teaching youth about the history, culture, sovereignty, and contemporary status of First Nations in Wisconsin.
