The UW-Green Bay Virtual Master Academy for Civic and Public Affairs is a series of interactive, live online sessions via Zoom which allow us to provide active learning through the use of breakouts, group work and polling. Participants select and register for their sessions. Each participant will be provided links to their own custom agenda.

Earn up to 16 hours (or 8 points) towards your IIMC-CMC or MMC by attending.

The Master Academy for Civic and Public Affairs training qualifies for IIMC-CMC and MMC points at a rate of 1 point per 2 in-class contact hours.

Wisconsin:  This Academy has been designed for all public officials.  This advanced training qualifies for IIMC, WMCA, MTAW, WCCA, WCTA, WCCCA education hours towards certifications.

January 119 a.m.-12 p.m.Strategic Planning in the Clerk's Office:  Why is strategic planning necessary in the clerk’s office? An effective strategic plan involves everyone. In this session you will be shown a strategic planning process that is inclusive and creates a foundation for success.Jane Long, Ed. D., is Staff Development Consultant for the American Dental Association and is the former Director of Professional Development for the IIMC. 
 9-11 a.m.Election Civility Communication: Dealing with difficult polling situations: An angry individual, distrustful observer or group can disrupt election activities.   Election Security and Safety:  Protecting your Polls:  Join us for an in-depth class on dealing with election security in today’s world of incivility and increased risk. January 129 a.m.-12 p.mThe  Public Official in Court:  You never know when your day in court might happen. Do you know what to do if you find yourself in this situation?  Some of the topics covered will be lawyer's procedures and rules of evidence, how to give a deposition, what is an expert witness and much more.  Come and learn!  It could be YOU.Christina Katt, Attorney, focuses her practice on representing private and public sector employers in all aspects of labor and employment law.  James Carroll, Attorney, focuses his practice on municipal labor and employment law.  Lawyers are from Beulow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet.
Participation

Participants are required to have their camera on during all sessions to allow for verified engagement.  UW-Green Bay expects that attendees limit outside distractions, remain in one location for the duration of the session (no driving/errands/doctor appoints), and actively participate in group discussions and activities.

Attendance

Participants must attend the full program.  Participants who miss 25% or more of a course and/or do not complete any associated assessments will not receive credit for the course.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations have a $40 non-refundable processing charge. Cancellations after December 20, 2023 will not receive a refund. Handouts will not be provided to those that cancel. It is impossible to refund 100% of the registration fee.  It is important to note that numerous contractual obligations are incurred long before the event with financial commitments to expenditures that may not be refundable to the university.
