When you join UW-Green Bay's Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) you'll be able to register for courses each fall and spring semester. Topics vary from arts and crafts to tours, history to exercise, and more offered in a variety of formats. Your instructors will share their passions, and you'll have a lot of opportunities for questions, comments and discussion. No tests, no papers and no credits. New members are always welcome to the Lifelong Learning Institute. Join us!

What is the Lifelong Learning Institute?

The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) is a volunteer, member-led program offering a wide variety of noncredit classes and other personal enrichment activities to its many members, all of whom enjoy learning for its own sake. There are no tests, no papers, no grades, no academic or age prerequisites. All classes are taught by unpaid volunteer presenters, often former faculty.

When Classes Meet

Classes usually meet 2 hours once a week, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1-3 p.m., with a 15-minute break during the class.

What classes does LLI Offer?

Choose from 250+ classes each semester in a variety of formats.

Each semester, LLI offers 250+ different classes on a wide range of topics including hands-on arts and crafts and technology courses, and classes focused on exercising the body as well as the mind. Classes are held in-person (in classrooms or other locations) and many have online options. Many courses involve only 1 or 2 class sessions, with a few involving 4+ sessions. Popular topics include:

Governance & Structure

As a volunteer, member-led program, the UW-Green Bay Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) has bylaws, policies, procedures and a code of conduct.

How is LLI governed?

LLI is member-led with codified bylaws, policies and procedures. If you are interested in learning more, please access a specific document.

Does LLI have a Code of Conduct?

Yes, having a code of conduct for a learning community is essential for creating a safe, respectful and productive environment.

How is LLI structured?

LLI is sponsored by UW-Green Bay's Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Training, and is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors, composed of four elected officers and three elected members-at-large, in addition to five committee chairs. Officers are elected annually in May and begin serving their term on July 1.
