Just because you’re in military science doesn’t mean you can’t get the full college experience. In fact, we encourage Cadets to participate in activities that help you explore and develop both personally and professionally. Get involved in volunteer work, intramural sports, clubs and more while our program courses challenge you to solve complicated situations. You'll give full military briefs and teach your fellow classmates to ensure you not only know concepts—you can understand and apply them. The skills you learn will be a benefit in nearly any career.
Fox Valley Battalion
UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College are combined to form Green Knight Company as a member of the Fox Valley Battalion. The Battalion is headquartered at UW-Oshkosh, and also includes companies from Marian University and Ripon College.
Program Expectations
During your first two years, you can pursue the basic military science course with no military service commitment after graduation unless you receive an ROTC scholarship. In order to become involved in the program, you'll need to:
- Apply and be accepted into UW-Green Bay
- Enroll in Leadership and Military Science I (MS 101)
- Have a 2.5 GPA to contract as a cadet
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA throughout the program
Basic Course
(Pre-professional)
Any student can register for the basic courses, even if you don't intend to join ROTC. Here are the pre-professional program basics:
- No military commitment is required if you don't receive a scholarship
- You can withdraw at any time before the end of the second year
- Necessary textbooks and materials are furnished without cost to you
- You'll attend class and lab for two hours every week.
- Physical training is optional (but can help you stay fit and maintain strength)
Advanced Course
(Professional)
The advanced course, beginning in your third year, requires a military service commitment through ROTC. Satisfactory performance in the basic course, demonstrated leadership potential and recommendations from program instructors make you eligible to enter the professional program. You'll receive uniforms, necessary military science textbooks, salary during an advanced camp and an allowance up to $4,000 each year.
High School Students Admissions
If you are a high school student and want to apply for the Army ROTC National Scholarship during your senior year, you'll need to:
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Earn a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have an unweighted high school GPA of at least 2.50 while applying
- Have taken the SAT or ACT
