Oneida Teaching Grammar

The Oneida Teaching Grammar is a 165 page document that describes the basic sound, word, and sentence structures of Oneida . These structures are presented in an order that balances two principles: from simple to complex; and from high frequency of use to lower frequency. The vocabulary, although extensive enough to provide examples, is limited to allow a focus on structures. Also included are tables, summary charts, and supplementary vocabulary items.

The document is downloadable in pdf format. It is approximately 26 megabytes. A special font is used to display some special characters. Oneida words and practice syllables in the document are linked to sound files and these may be played by clicking on the boldfaced words. Adobe Reader 6.0 or later is required for playing the sound files. If security codes are blocking access to sound, then these instructions on playing sound in pdf may help. MAC users may have more success opening the files in Adobe Reader rather than Preview.

The document is copyright material, but is available free for downloading.
