Campus Visit Overview

What is Phuture Phoenix Day?

The Phuture Phoenix program, based at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, is a coordinated effort to inspire academic success and alert children to post-secondary educational opportunities. 5th graders from 16 Green Bay public elementary schools, 13 other northeast Wisconsin districts and 8th graders from four Green Bay public middle schools are invited to tour UWGB campus led by student role model.

Student role models receive training to act as tour guides to our visiting 5th and 8th graders and are paired up to be assigned to groups of 6-10 kids. Throughout the tour, role models have the chance to get to know their group and answer their questions about how they chose to go to college and about other post-secondary options they considered.

After the campus visit, role models stay in touch with the kids that they met. These contacts are intended to remind students of the connections they made at UWGB and keep thinking about their post-secondary experience.  Follow-up contacts are prescribed by the Phuture Phoenix program to ensure that all kids receive follow-ups.
