Why Study Abroad?

Participating in a UW-Green Bay study abroad program can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your college career! Think about how interconnected our world is today in every social aspect and in every career field. Think about the global experiences you have every day!

An experience abroad will not only prepare you to work in an intercultural setting, you will be a benefit to employers looking for new leaders who can work effectively across cultures and disciplines and who are looking for employees who are confident, think outside of the box, and can adapt easily to new situations.

Why Me?

Students study abroad for a number of reasons! Besides the benefits toward your future personal, academic, and professional paths students find study abroad very rewarding, in fact the only regret most students have is that they didn’t go earlier or didn’t stay longer!

Other students have found that study abroad is a great way to explore their identity or ancestry, a way to improve self-confidence, to visit a bucket list destination, or to truly learn about themselves while abroad.  Visit our other pages to learn about programs offered and resources for all students.

"My advice for people who want to study abroad is to not let any of the fears you have stop you. You have so much to gain by going, and it’s really a once in a lifetime experience that is not worth passing up on. You learn so much about yourself and others"
- Kassie Yunto, UW-Green Bay alum who studied in South Africa.

  • Being able to step outside of your comfort zone

"Study abroad is quickly becoming the key to success in our global economy. Because getting ahead is today’s workplaces isn’t just about getting good grades, or test scores in school (which are important), it’s also about having real experience with the world beyond your borders, experience with languages, cultures and societies very different from your own." - Michelle Obama
