Components of the Master's Degree
Our master's program is built on stackable certificates so you can build professional credentials along the way. To earn the degree, you'll take 31 credits across 11 courses. The length of time it takes to complete your degree depends on the number of courses you take during a semester and whether you attend all three semesters (fall, spring and summer). Course availability may also vary each semester. Most students take 1-2 courses per semester, but you can work at your own pace.
1 Earn Core Certificates
Build your foundation in biotechnology with two core certificates: Fundamentals of Biotechnology and Leadership, Ethics & Communication in Biotechnology. You'll earn 18 credits across 6 courses.
2Choose Your Track
Biotechnology impacts a wide variety of industries, and our program reflects that. You can tailor your education to your professional goals through specialized tracks. Each track has three required courses worth 3 credits each; you may complete more than one track. The program is built on stackable certificates, so you'll earn the two core certificates plus your specialized track certificate.
- Applied Bioinformatics
- Business Management
- Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Research and Development
3 Complete the Capstone
The final component of the graduate program is the capstone. It's your chance to gain valuable, practical experience through a fieldwork project. Whether through your current employer or with an external organization, you can design a project that aligns with your interests and career goals. You'll complete a prep course worth 1 credit and a project course worth 3 credits.
Looking for our Certificates?
We offer three standalone certificates if you want to further your career in biotechnology without diving into a master's degree. Our two core certificates, as well as the Applied Bioinformatics track certificate, can be earned without enrolling in the graduate program.
